PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
April 18, 2012
A quorum being present, Chairperson Margaret Byrne called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:25 p.m. in the second floor conference room in the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Patricia Begley, Margaret Byrnes, Linda Carrasquillo, Bernard Corona, Vincent Parys, Eugene Pushefski, Susan Tukey.
EXCUSED: Paul Barry, Charles Clarke, Edward Dettore.
ABSENT: Melodie Wilson.
OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Vice Chairperson Patricia Begley motioned for approval of March 21st minutes with the correction of “invitations” in place of “initiations” for the Flag Day Essay Contest be inserted. Chairperson Vincent 2nd.
MOTION: Approved.
CORRESPONDENCE: None.

BILLS: Motion made by Commissioner Susan Tukey to pay the clerk. Commissioner Patricia Begley 2nd.
MOTIONS: Passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Commission balance is 6,769.51.
UNFINISHED/OLD/ BUSINESS: The 2012 East Hartford Memorial Day Parade will be dedicated to “ALL FALLEN HEROES”.
Commissioner Linda Carrasquillo has youth volunteers from the Salvation Army to remove the overgrown grass from the Veteran’s headstones, this will be done the day the flags are being placed at the cemetery on May 19th.
Commissioner Bernard Corona presented the Commission with another letter requesting the re-naming of Bicentennial Square. This proposal is to name the park ” Fallen Heroes Bicentennial Square” which would include the Police and Firefighters from East Hartford that died in the line of duty.
Chairperson Margaret Byrnes will present the request to the Mayor. Chairperson Susan Tukey motioned to accept. Chairperson Eugene Pushefski 2nd.
